I told you guys that we were getting a 3rd for MJ. Didn't expect a 4th AC, more like a 5th, but I'm glad we did.
I was a doubter..... The formula is so bizarre and apparently secretive in some ways and I figured we'd just get screwed. Happy I was wrong -- Now, let's actually get some talent with the picks.
here's what I want
1. a road grader
2. an athlete that can transition to safety, even though he hasn't played it since grade school.
3. a Tight End who can sorta play fullback
That is very good news indeed. Is a 4th rounder provided because of the value of the contract that Collins signed? How do they determine what comp pick a team gets for lost FA's?
We rented MJ to Tampa for one year in exchange for a 3rd rounder..... Not bad. And Collins netted a 4th rounder and can't find a new team.
We've been hit or miss with 3rd and 4th rounders (as has everyone), but have landed Gino, Boling, Sanu, and Bodine in the last 5 years. All starters last year.
We also got MJ much cheaper than we would have had we re-signed him a year ago.
No one knows the answer to this? I figured someone like Tubbs or Flaming who knows everything would have an answer for me.
No one outside of the NFL knows the exact formula but it has to do with how many of your free agents are signed and how many you sign. That is step one. Then it has to do with the value of the contracts. Not how well they play, but how big the contracts are. After that it's pretty secretive how they figure it out exactly.
