Has anybody been to this in the past?

I have considered going, but with the issues in Detroit was wondering how many hidden costs there are.

I have never been to it. I know there is some decent hotels outside the city further south off the interstate. It is a drive but you don't spend near as much on hotel/motel costs and the drive is not a killer on gas costs either.

I know the track is across the river from downtown. I have never gone to the track but I hear that they have really improved it since they have consistent races from a number of series including IRL, Nationwide, and the old Rolex series to name a few on a yearly basis.

Thanx, I finally found something that answered my questions about parking. You pay $10 to park at a satellite area and they bus you in.

Yea, I knew that you couldn't park on the island. There really is no room and the park-n-ride was in effect. But I am glad you found what you needed.
