Report: Le'Veon Bell seeking $17M annually It's $3 million higher than Todd Gurley's average salary. Bell also wants $45 million guaranteed. It's a lot of money for a 27-year-old coming off a holdout at a devalued position, but Bell is going to get overpaid this offseason. With the Steelers expected to transition tag Bell, teams may be forced to frontload Bell's contract.

Steelers radio just said they wanted him this year. Tried to work out a deal with him. He declined and said he wasn’t playing this year. Steelers expected to transition the him

The ship that would have given him that amount of salary has set sail months ago.

Why the hell would you transition him and lose the comp pick ? No way they're matching any offer even remotely close to that with how Conner has performed

why would you lose a comp pick? If they dont sign him (& they wont) They should get their Comp pick right? Or am I wrong?

That idiot would have to average more than $17Mil a year for about 5 years (a running back? seriously?)to make up what he fucked away this season.

Fucking moron.

I'm pretty sure if you transition a guy and refuse to match you lose the comp . Otherwise you'd see it used way more if there was no downside

Pitt won't be able to match a contract and then trade him.

If a team offers Bell a $10 m signing bonus in a new contract and Pitt matches the offer, Pittsburgh would have to pay him the signing bonus and take a dead cap hit from it too when they traded him.

The only reason they transition tag him is with an eye towards matching an offer and keeping Bell.

You can work out an agreement where a team gives Pitt a pick so they don't match the offer....but they can't match an offer sheet and then trade.

But if I am a team willing to sign Bell, am I really scared of Pitt matching? No because Pitt is clearly not willing Bell the type of dollars he wants and is likely going to get. In other words if I am willing to offer Bell the type of contract he is asking for, I am offering more than Pitt is willing to pay.

That's exactly right. Not sure who's advising him but whoever it is has pretty remedial math skills and given that Bell's math skills seem non existent, surrounding himself by idiots is well.......idiotic. He tossed $14 mil into the scrap bin and is about to turn 27, which is senior citizen status for running backs. He's only going to get slower from here. That's the nature of the position. SUX2B him. I guess stupid is a permanent condition.

I defended Bell saying if he had to give up a 1 year 14 million season to get a 4 year deal averaging 11-12 million a year with a comfortable guarenteed salary then I say it is worth it and he is actually entitled to it. If he would have gotten hurt this season he would be lucky to get 8 million a year deal.

But 17 million is crazy I am assuming they are just trying to start out high before coming to the median with a team
