My wife wants me to drive 2 hours up to Bay City tomorrow to let our grandson see the Tall ships.

Has anybody been to this before? Is it worth it? I have never been north of Frankenmuth.

The only thing I know about Bay City is I helped my Uncle drive some steel out of there a few times and met a hottie from Bay City while in the Army that could deliver the goods......So No complaints about Bay City.

Until I meet a Hooker that gives me the clap and says she was from "Bay City" then I would trash it.

Well OK then. I think the wife might have something to say if I went off with a hooker, and she would likely be pissed if said hooker had the clap.

If you like water, and boats, you will probably enjoy it. Or if the kids do. It's evidently the only American port the "armada" stops in. My aunt took her grand kids a couple years ago, they had a good time. But these kids are all about fishing on Saginaw Bay with their grandfather, so that may have swayed things. You've never been north of leiderhozenville? Wow, you're missing out on the GreatLakesState. There's a whole lot of awesome north of M-57.

They got some good shit (fishing) going on in Grayling if you don't mind spending 4.00 bucks a gallon to drive and catch a 2 pound perch...

Kinda defeats the purpose but to each there own. I know I've lost out on that deal a few times.

My coworkers keep telling me to head up there. IDK why we have not yet. We are from the beaches of Virginia and NC originally so yeah we love the water.

They once talked me into a deep sea fishing trip.

1 $100 a head
2 be at the Ford plant at midnight
3 6 hour bus drive to Carolina Beach
4 6 hour boat ride out
5 all anybody was catching was 2 or 3 pound bottom feeders.
:gaah:

Definitely!!! I lived there for 3 years as a recruiter a few years back, seeing those all in that small area is pretty cool! And riverwalk park always has tons to do. There is almost a guarantee to be tons of food all up and down that place.

Could see a bunch of the ships heading into the bay, had one anchored for a day or so here in Tawas Bay, pretty sweet looking boats. Should be worth your drive, we may head down this weekend too to see them.

I crewed on a tall ship for 2 years as a kid. If you see the St. Lawrence II that's my ship. The sailing was fun, as was playing tag in the rigging and using the yards as cliffs to jump in the water on calm days. If the kid really likes big boats they're cool, but otherwise it's just a thing.

Avoid the Rollers, though. They suck.

I just drove through Bay City on the way home from Caseville. It is definitely a day trip and if I had to drive over 100 miles I probably wouldn't. If you want to walk around and enjoy a great day cool Frankenmuth and fudge would probably have the same impact on your grandson. A stop at the Outlets of Birch Run would pacify your wife and Maybe make her forget about the Hooker with the clap.

It was enjoyable for a daytrip. It was just over 100 miles seeing how we are right outside Ann Arbor, but always worth it since the wife loves to go to Frankenmuth and that means I can get some bacon flavored popcorn.
