One of my childhood heroes. I remember we had two black labs named Mays and McCovey. They were great dogs.

Chew, Thanks for posting this to honor one of the great ones!

I swear, I think this guy could hit a baseball farther than I can see but much more important than that he was a good human being. RIP Big Willie!

I know how much you love your Giants and this was some sad news for me to hear too. I know one thing for sure, the Giants had two great Willies.

Killebrew and McCovey both peaked around the same time, 1969-70ish. I was big fans of both as a little boy, mostly because my dad would call me over to the TV and tell me to watch them hit during Cubs and Chisox games.
Suck different men physically.... Willie very black, long, and lean, Harmon pasty white, more average height, and blocky like a guy who swung a sledge for a living and drank plenty of beers after hours. They were both underappreciated stars and truly kind men. I miss them both!

How many times did Willie Mays, Willie McCovey, Willie Stargell, Willie Davis and Juan Marichal appear in an all star game together. Would that be WillieWillieWillieWillieJuan?

Thank you for hitting that screaming line drive right at Bobby Richardson with the winning run on base with 2 out in the 9th in '62.
