TMZ.com reports former Cowboys and Bears RB Marion Barber was arrested Sunday, and is currently being held for "mental detention and observation."
The arrest occurred in Texas. Few details are available, but TMZ claims "sources" told them the incident "occurred at a nearby church." Barber, 31, retired from the NFL in 2012. He has no known history of off-the-field problems.

I read the police turned him over to the mental hospital. When I first saw it , I thought it was Tiki. Im not sure he really was doing anything wrong. The guy was a different bird. I kind of said that the other day in another post. I just remember on Hard Knocks while the team was goofing off one afternoon, he was in his room hammering out some Beethoven on the piano. He never really spoke to the media - if ever. I hate hearing this

Hopefully Marion Barber is alright and in full control of his mental faculties. He is one of my all time favorite Cowboys. But man, he sure did absorb a lot of punishment in his short time in the league.

Marion "The Barbarian" Barber - as fitting a nickname as there ever was. This guy had/has heart.

Barber was fun to watch. Loved the motor. He did start to get injured as soon as he signed the big contract though. Barber was better in the closer role. He came in fresh and pummeled tired defenses. He was not a lead back.

We have a lead back now and he is very underrated IMO.
