There's too much season left, which wasn't the case for Bass or Cabrera. There's no way he doesn't break the record unless he suffers a season-ending injury before he gets the big blast.

Yeah I agree it would be too obvious hard pressed for JBL to let that happen this time.

Rhodes and Cabrera both had time left in the season when playing the Hawks the got nothing to hit.

Also there is this going on this season: A juiced baseball scandal in Japan | The Strike Zone - SI.com so I bet when he breaks the record that will be their asterix....ala Bonds...
