How important do you think balance is in your playcalling? 49ers seem to be very balanced between running and passing plays. Last Monday they had 31 pass plays and 30 rushing plays. Steelers, however, once they figured they weren't getting anywhere running the ball, like most teams, turned to the pass, becoming unbalanced and one-dimensional, making them more predictable, thus easier to defend. Pitts. had 44 passing plays and only 19 rush attempts.

IMO 50/50. granted its hard for a team to do both equally well, so its just a goal. the game has trended pass due to rule changes and protection of players, so if its 51/49 or 52/48 pass, fine.

Pittsburgh didn't run WELL against our D, so they naturally gravitated to pass. then late 4th they had to pass.

its what we try to do to every opponent, so run stopping is huge.
