Actually, I think that's a pretty good deal when you look at what defenseman with similar point totals got this past weekend.
Anton was complaining about ice time last season, well with the departure of Regehr, he should get plenty of minutes now.
Don't worry, he'll still complain.
Isn't that his MO? He seems to be a talented kid, he just can't seem to keep his mouth shut.
lol... Calgary still giving out NTC clauses like candy

I don't see it as that big of a deal. The contract is only for two years. We're not talking about Jeff Finger or Jonathan Ericcson here.
Damn.....even I wouldn't go as far as comparing Finger to Ericsson. I don't think Finger has a roster spot?
Well I've seen posts from a few Red Wings fans that don't have Ericsson listed in the Wings top 6. That's a lot of $$ for a 7th defenseman.
I'm trying to look on the bright side here...:mmph:
Every team has their share of contracts that surprise us. It's just that last season there were a lot of complaints about Ericsson from Red Wings fans. Saying stuff like they can't wait for him to leave at the end of the year. You yourself was happy when he thought he could get more money elsewhere.
The fact that he got a 3 year deal at that price tag is a head scratcher.
As much as we usually push the limit on the cap, his timing was perfect. The usual cash strapped years and this doesn't happen.
Thank god we have 6 other D and money left for the trade deadline. (after we sign a back-up goalie.) Sure it sucks, but it shouldn't hurt us in the end.
Meh, maybe a lightbulb will turn on and he plays out of his mind. I just wish that mind was a bigger place to play out of...
Word is Osgood isn't coming back. Could Nabokov be an option?
Probably only if he has Vokouns agent. I honestly wouldn't mind MacDonald coming back. He played pretty solid last year. I'm getting sick of big dollar goalies anyway. With all the powerplays and crackdowns on the hitting, goalies are bound to get lit up no matter who they are.
Uhh, Nabokov is still under the same contract the Red Wings signed him to last year. Which means he'd be cheap. The Isles simply have his rights. Give us a 3rd or 4th round pick & he's probably yours.
