Michigan named Big Ten football favorite in cleveland.com 2019 preseason poll

Poll is conducted every year prior to B10 media days. I don't think I can remember the last time Michigan was voted as the favorite.

BIG TEN EAST
1. Michigan, 222 points (20 first-place votes)

2. Ohio State, 214 points (14)

3. Michigan State, 156 points

4. Penn State, 154 points

5. Indiana, 86.5 points

6. Maryland, 82.5 points

7. Rutgers, 37 points

BIG TEN WEST
1. Nebraska, 198 points (14 first-place votes)

2. Iowa, 194.5 points (14)

3. Wisconsin, 172.5 points (4)

4. Northwestern, 142.5 points (1)

5. Purdue, 110.5 points

6. Minnesota, 100 points (1)

7. Illinois, 34 points

Iowa 4th best in B1G, not bad for preseason.

Oh, and Rutgers just beat out Illinois.

That's like picking Bo Pelini to win the Big 10.

I don't think you understand how the poll works. They picked Iowa to finish 2nd in the West. That's all. Rutgers travels to Illinois on 11/2. Game of the Century

Wait
didn't Michigan loose 8 guys on defense, and runs a 1960's offense.

Or bowl-less Nebraska to win the B10 West.

There's a difference between winning a division and a CCG.

Bo Pelini could win divisions, but not the big games for CCG's

Pelini and Harbaugh have the same number of wins after 4 years. However, Harbaugh has yet to even win a division.

Big 10 West is a coin flip. The schedules favor Nebraska.

This is the biggest travesty of having divisions IMHO. Who gets to the CCG shouldn't depend on who has the most favorable schedule.

But, what the hell do I know. I'm old fashioned....at least according to my kids and grandkids.

It is what it is I guess.

Nebraska is picked because of schedule and expectations of Frost turning things around in year 2 like he did at UCF.

If Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Iowa all had identical schedules, and the 3 played each other on neutral fields, I'd pick Wisconsin.

Rutgers made a strong case after being undressed by Kansas last season. And no, I’m not talking about in basketball.

Their basketball team might be more competitive...

I can see picking Michigan .

They play Wisky , Iowa and Illinois as crossovers where OSU plays Nebraska , Wisky and NW so Michigan's is slightly easier and they get OSU at home .

Same thing with the West . Nebraska's crossovers are easier and they get most of the important division games at home .

Ultimately I'm still taking OSU and Iowa but I can see why Michigan and Nebraska are the favorites .

Man Wisconsin's crossovers are brutal this year lol
