Not sure the numbers of it yet. other than 54M does anyone have the full break down of his contract that includes $40.2 million in guarantees? 3 years and 54 Mill is steep at around $18 mill a season. Don't like the 3 years part to be honest, would have rather seen a 4-5 year contract so we know that he retires a Seahawk.

I think it's a great deal on both sides. Bobby Wagner justifiably wanted to exceed the contract in average per year that C.J. Mosley was mistakenly given.

The reason I like the deal (assuming it kicks in after the 2019 season) is that we'll have Wagner under contract until he's 33 by which point he'll likely begin to decline due to age/wear and tear etc. My biggest concern was continuing to pay him $18m a year when he's 34, 35 at which point his contract would exceed his value.

Yeah pretty much love this contract. He almost certainly retires a Seahawk now.

Maybe but i feel he will still be balling at that time. I bet he adds a Probowl season at 32 years old :P. I feel bad for Bobby in a way because Luke gets all the love when Bobby is the better player in my eyes. They both great but Bobby is better on this team and would be better on the Panthers in the different role. Just my bias 2 cents lol

Bobby Wagner and Luke Kuechly are close but most people agree that Wagner has been the better inside linebacker the last few seasons at least. I think Kuechly gets more attention due to his draft position, his historic performance in college and his athleticism for a guy of his size - not to say that Bobby Wagner is not an incredible athlete himself.

i still remember a article from CBS in like 2014? 2015? Where they compared Bobby and Luke. Bottom line they said Bobby was Stronger, Bobby was faster and bobby was smarter. This was still during the "Luke is the best ILB in the NFL" blind man phase where no one thought about Bwags because the LOB got all the hype. Even though with out Bwags the LOB would have stood for "Look out burned" underneath. His ability to clog up the middle of the field forces passes over the top made the LOB much better. yes Kam was a huge part of that clogging up the middle too but Bobby was the heart of it.

Hard not to be really excited about this news. I think this has been one outstanding off-season put together by the FO -- extension on RW, signing FAs Ziggy Ansah & Iupati, trading Frank Clark for great value instead of giving him a problematic contract, turning 4 draft picks into a bundle of really talented prospects, and now extending the best player on our defense through the remainder of his prime years. They nailed it in my opinion.

Brady Henderson ESPN
Here's the breakdown of Bobby Wagner's three-year, $54 million extension: $15 million signing bonus; base salaries of $9.5 million for 2019 (fully guaranteed), $10.75 million for 2020 (guaranteed for injury now, becomes fully guaranteed on fifth day of ‘20 waiver period), $13.15 million for 2021 ($5 million guaranteed for injury now, becomes fully guaranteed on fifth day of ‘21 waiver period), $16.35 million for 2022; $250,000 in roster bonuses for 2020, 2021 and 2022 ($15,625 per game on the 53-man roster). The deal includes $40.25 million in overall guarantees, of which $24.5 million is fully guaranteed at signing. Note: Wagner corrected the initial version of this post to note the trigger dates for his salary guarantees are the fifth day of the waiver period, not the fifth day of the league year.

When looking at those numbers i am more than extremely happy with his contract.
