Unfortunately the day that cost the game a lot.

We lost our last legitimate shot at .400. It killed the Expos. You could make a case that it made the PED issue worse, though it still probably would have become a problem; MLB might have cracked down on it a lot sooner though if they didn't need to rebuild the fanbase (via homers).

People are still trying to heal, man!

We'd have seen a Montreal Expos pennant and they might actually still be north of the border

I'd bet the Braves would have caught them for the division.

Lots of history was made that year and lots of hearts were broken. The result essentially created the 2-tier level of baseball that figures to endure now forever.

I don't know if the Expos could have won or if Gwynn could have hit .400 or if Williams could have broken the HR record or if the Reds really were the best team in the NL.

What I watch now is not the same game I watched 25 years ago. Better? Worse? No, just different. Whatever is good for LA, NY or Boston is what is good now.

The rest of us hope for some beef floating around in our beef-noodle soup.

25 yrs. today since the strike began. I was 11 then, 36 now. Still like baseball. Favorite sport. Still I think with that strike baseball lost a lot that it has yet to reclaim.

I know some old timers that to this day refuse to watch baseball because of that strike. Doesn’t matter that every player from then is now retired

2nd place and 6 games back when it ended. most people agree the 94 expos got robbed of a potential WS title.
MLB 1994 strike anniversary: Montreal Expos' greatest season vanished overnight

estination. Baseball’s last work stoppage robbed the Montreal Expos of their best chance of winning a World Series in 1994, and the what-ifs and what-might-have-beens haunt Kevin Malone to this day.

“When I think about it, I can really feel that twinge in my stomach, that emptiness, that kind of sick feeling,” Malone said as he recalled the 1994 season, his first as Montreal’s general manager.

“It’s obviously not as intense as it was 25 years ago, but it’s still there. It’s almost like a scar that won’t go away, and by touching it, I can remember certain things about the season.”

The Expos, despite a $19-million payroll that ranked 27th out of 28 teams, had a 74-40 record — the best mark in baseball — and a six-game lead over Atlanta in the National League East when players walked off the job Aug. 12, 1994.

Braves would have gutted that 6 game lead like a fish.

i dunno, they had a good lead most of the year.

The Braves & Expos had only played 9 times before the strike, which means there was a lot of head to head the last month & a half of the season. Seasoned Braves would have just barely passed the Expos by season's end.

They were only 6 Games Up. Braves would have caught them IMO.

Was just about to ask, why hadn't they already caught them? :noidea:

They were only 6 Games Up. Braves would have caught them IMO.

i say they would have held that 6 game lead.

2 peoples takes.

non brave or montreal fans.

My opinion is that Montreal would have won the division by 10 games. But it's still just that: an opinion. I don't think there's any question that the strike hastened their move to DC, though.
