I think today was good timing for an offday. The anxiety over the trade deadline seemed to be really hard on this team and probably affected the teams play.

I have no problem with Palumbo, Payano, Sampson and Jurado getting all the starts behind Lynn and Minor going forward, hopefully 2-3 can become effective starters or at the very least relievers next year

Yeah, let them pitch even if they get their brains beat in a few times. They gain experience at a high level and we get a chance to see if their is a diamond in the rough. If Payano turns out to be one then that would be great.

How about Allard? They are saying he will be in the rotation next year.
And Volquez has started his rehab assignment.

Volquez will not be a starter. He will finish out the year in the pen and then retire. That is the plan anyway.

I think Allard will be in the mix, but many think he will not cut it as a starter.

I wonder how it will affect offseason plans if a couple of them prove effective and both Hearn and Burke finish strong?

I’m very glad he didn’t get traded. He’s made the team a lot more watchable this year and he has 2 more options.
