1st time player . Actually all 12 guys are in the league. I have done a few mocks though. The one difference in our league that the mocks is our budget is 250 instead of 200, so that should increase some. In doing the mocks , I have done it all sorts of ways , going heavy on backs , going heavy with WRs and getting CJohnson, Murray, McFadden together for a little bit more than Peterson went for. Any strong advice. I figure one of the big time backs will probably take at least a quarter of the budget. I will say right off hand I will pay whatever for DEZ , but thats the only one I really care to have for sure. Its been taking me about 20 percent

Take half or 60% of your budget for RB, they're going steep this season in auctions. There's enough depth at WR to get some good deals and QB you can really get some good deals later on to make it worth it. If you're stuck on Dez though you're going to be paying for him as much as a #1RB so that will hurt from the ones I've been doing as you're either going RB/RB with most your budget or RB/WR and then you're looking for deals for RB#2 and wr#2

I would say to try and spend about 75% of your budget on starting RBs, WRs and Flex in whatever configuration makes the most sense. Get the best deal you can on a top 13 QB and find a budget TE like Cameron. After all that, you should still have about 20% of your money to spend on your bench.

Dez could be a really good value this year. I think he will take the next step and maybe be the #1 WR.

In a 200 dollar budget, I got Chris Johnson for 34, McFadden for 24, and Murray for 17. Would you mind those 3 RBs. ?

In normal auction leagues, how do you get free agents? Do you have to have money left over from your draft budget?

Most do FAAB bidding. This is totally separate from the auction draft and everybody starts with the same budget. Your league could also use traditional waivers. You should be able to find it in your league settings.

I know some on here really like McFadden, but there is no way I would spend that kind of $ on him and Murray. You could get young backs like Miller, Wilson and Ball for less. That is probably how I would roll. Too much risk with DMC and Murray for me at that price. Those RBs have a ton of upside, but a lot of downside too.

I'm hoping Johnson performs this season, I like him more than the last few years with his new o-line so for $250 budget I'd say that's not a bad price. Personally on the other two I'm not liking so much so I think you overspent on McFadden, haven't really looked at what Murray is going for. Get rid of those two and spend $41 on a better back.

That's great that you want Dez. If the others in this league are also 'Boys fans, then you may be spending even more for him. I applaud the determination, but at some point the man-crush on Dez could affect the budget of your bench. And your bench (not just Dez) is what could decide your fate in the league.

I don't normally endorse "mock" drafts. It has been my experience that only a few take the mock seriously enough to ride out the whole draft. Most stay on only long enough to see how far they need to "reach" to pick up the players they want (or players who are trending as "must haves").

That said, I'd recommend Fantasy Pros for your "Simulate Draft" mock (green button). It's fast because it's just you versus their computer. And they import various rankings. Which means that if you were to retake the mock - even at the same position - you'll see different players taken. (Plus it's not you against some clown trying get Graham with the eleventh pick overall.) They'll even grade your selections.

My bad. Fantasy Pros does not have an "auction" draft simulation. Sorry.

In all auctions my advice is not to be afraid to overspend for a player... If you want peterson dont be afraid to put in 100 dollars for him... You will find bargains elsewhere to even it out...

As a hard core Dallas fan, I actually hate having them on my team. I rememeber I used to pick up Aikman in the 13th round just so he would make a team , ha. I had Irvin for a few yrs and I have taken Witten but thats the only ones I have ever had in 20 plus yrs. I just have a feeling about Dez. They do have a new play caller which could affect some things , but I still see a monster season coming. I wont over pay for him though. Before the draft I will have a limit , especiaLLY since its my first auction draft ever. Whether I stick to it or not remains to be seen. For some reason our league is going with a 250 dollar budget instead of 200, so I will have to change some values. If the top backs are going for 50 plus, I will pay up to 45 for Dez

just did my first auction draft earlier in the week. I showed up late, so the computer auto drafted Doug Martin for me at $66. I was kinda pissed.

Make sure you are there on time!
Wait, Wait, Wait, Wait for QBs. People blew their wads on manning, rodgers, brees, newton - all the rest of the QBs went for less than $20.

My advice since you are in a league with a bunch of newbies, save as much of your $$ as you can for the first 30-50 players, spend it on 2-3 studs in the beginning, then you can get a bunch of steals after everyone else over pays for their RB2s and WR2s. Leave rookies like Lacy, Bernard off the auction block, so you can get them on the cheap when no one else has the $$.

Dont spend more than $3 on TE/DEF/K, not worth it.

Also - depending on your league settings, after the draft, try putting in a bid of $0 on a free agent, if you dont think anyone else will bid on him. In my league, it still counts as a bid, and you get the player, even though you dont spend any of your FAAB (Free Agent Acquisition Budget)

I haven't had my auction league draft yet (coming up this Tuesday). Each year the Commish changes our budget. So to circumvent the change, I created a spreadsheet of current player auction averages. It then calcuates the percentage of the budget. This way, I can enter ANY budget value and have it spit out the adjusted average prices of each player.

Based on your $250 budget and consensus auction averages, Dez is worth $53. So your $45 is too low. Just FYI.

Yes, i am going to have to refigure. I was getting him for 40 in the mock drafts with 200 so thats 20 percent and that was 3 weeks ago probably. At 250 then, he should have gone for 50 being 20 percent. His preseason has increased his value a little as well probably

I just did the spreadsheet on Monday. Dez is showing 21% of budgeted value. Which is 3rd for the WR. Calvin is first 24.5%, then Green at 22%. Marshall 4th at 20.5%

Where do you get those percentages from? For example, we will be doing our draft off of espn. They have it for a 200 dollar budget . 3 weeks ago Peterson for example may have been going for 52 off of ESPN but 38 on CBS SPORTS. Now I dont know if CBS SPORTS is a 200 budget I guess my question is what is a good value chart to look at for an auction draft.

I got the consensus average values from the Fantasy Pros web site. They take multiple sources (like 50+) for their consensus rankings. Unfortunately for the auction values, they only have 2 sources for 10-team leagues.

However, if you're in a 12-team league, they have different values from 4 sources for 12-team values. Yet the dollar amounts don't seem too much higher for 12-team. Depends on the player (like AP).

As for the percentages - that's calculated on my spreadsheet. And I only did 10-team percentages.

I look at the values and percentages as just a gauge. I know my buddies pretty well and I know some will go nuts over certain players.
