Everything I read over the years, he’s been as consistent as a person as he was a player. Not an easy balance to accomplish. Really pleased for him and the Broncos.

I remember as a kid going to a Broncos preseason game vs Miami. An older gentleman who knew the team well was standing next to me as I watched the players warming up. He told me Atwater was the nicest guy off the field. Mean on, gentle off. I was on top of the world because this guy had Steve Atwater and Alton Montgomery wave at me.
