Starting on Thu (when more starters will play) but only to a certain extent. Just remember that preseason bears little to no resemblance to the regular season. Just because guys like Murray & Jones had spectacular opening drives the other nt doesn't mean that they are now going to tear it up in the NFL. Once the real football starts they are going to be facing the real starters & true coaching on the defensive side. No doubt they will have their share of ups & downs (heck Jones might barely play - TBD).

On the flip side just because Haskins had a terrible nt doesn't mean that he is a bust & has no future in the NFL. These are learning experiences for all of these young QBs (it will likely be that way for the next year or two). The key will be how he learns from these mistakes. There have been plenty of cases where elite QBs had terrible starts to their careers. Not sure if Haskins will eventually be a good/great QB & don't believe that anyone really knows how he will develop - TBD.

What we do no is that, right now, Haskins is not ready. Hopefully this quiets those that want/expect Haskins to play. Of course, this will only last until colt/case tosses their first INT.

LOL, yep.

It is no sin that a kid that only played one year of college football even though he played it well, needs some time to learn. Tossing him out there when he is not ready is not the right thing to do.

He has arm talent. Give him some time to learn and also to not get killed behind a line that looks pretty soft right now.

I can say with 100 percent certainty if McCoy plays Redskins will have a top 5 pick if it's Keenum somewhere in the teens if lucky but we gotta protect Haskins so we are in for a lost season and more then likely a new Head Coach next year

Agree. Kind of foolish to expect that Haskins will be ready by day 1. The other part is so true - I just hope for QB safety at this time.

If Haskins doesn't get any reps with any of the 1's Gruden was never going to start him no matter how good or bad he looked

Start him on week 1 or start him at any time this season? Most would agree that Haskins doesn't look ready to start on week 1 at this time. Many would also assume that he will be starting at some pt this season (& if he doesn't it likely means that either Keenum or McCoy are doing well which ain't bad).

there is absolutely no reason to think this season is a "lost " season before it even starts . keenum was in the NFC championship game (carried by a great defense and some strong wrs ) .

we have the potential to have a strong defense , a strong running game , and decent (not great ) wrs so i tend to see a team that competes for a playoff spot much like last season before injuries derailed us and even with that we were in it till week 15 .

so starting keenum doesnt mean anything other then a chance to win

you think what you want but if we come out of game 5 2-3 or better we will be there

I like your optimism but I am a realist and I'll be happily surprised if we win 2 of our first 5 games.

The projected wins total for the Redskins this coming season is 6 1/2 but I think we've got a chance to win 7 or maybe even 8 with a lucky bounce or two but that won't be enough to even talk about the playoffs unless the entire NFC becomes mediocre and I doubt that's going to happen.

As always, I will be cheering hard for the burgundy and gold however.

Overall health, QB and WRs are the key to this season IMO. I think the D will be pretty good. I think we will run the ball halfway decent. A healthy Jordan Reed for most of the season, McLaurin and Quinn could be big. With Reed and VD you can play 12 personnel which makes play action work better.

In my mind, run the ball play good D so you shorten the clock. That is the recipe for playing well.

Why is positivity some how not realistic ?

I understand prepare for the worst and hope for the best .

I just don’t get how somehow negativity is “ realistic “. Yet positivity is somehow less so ?

Look this season could go very south , we could be getting a top 5 pick

However the question should be is this team better then last years version ? If it is the we can compete for a playoff spot

If not then are we worse ? Or treading water ?

I feel like we are better if we can stay healthy

That doesn’t mean we aren’t doomed but until week 6 I will still think we have a punchers chance

I've always respected your Redskins posts but you don't sound very confident, nor do I.

You said "overall health" and we both know with our history that is unlikely to happen.
You said "I think we will run the ball halfway decent" but you didn't say decent.
You said "A healthy Jordan Reed for most of the season" but history is not on our side for that to happen either.

In fact, I agree with all of your hopes that you pointed out but quality teams that make the playoffs on a consistent basis don't have to do as much hoping as we are doing, right?

dad, if you will think back to just last season when you bought into all of the hype and predicted the Redskins would finish 10-6 when I was the only one here who correctly predicted we would finish 7-9 that should answer your question because I think you might be buying into more hype again. Now don't get me wrong because I'm not trying to toot my own horn but I live in the real world and Vegas is not in the business of losing money or they wouldn't be putting up millions of dollars in lighting in their sportsbooks to blind the public. Vegas has to put up a sharp number to get action on both sides because they are going to get their 10% vig on all losing bets and they are historically very close on their number. I bet on sports year round and I have never had a losing season in any sport. It's not because of what I know or don't know, it's because I get great information from those in the know and my sources are telling me that 6 1/2 wins for the Redskins this season is risky on the over or under which means I won't bet it either way since there will be many opportunities during the course of a long football season that won't be as risky. I never bet on a puncher's chance because a knockout artist always wins but if we are 2-3 at the end of week 5 I will be very happy since I am a Redskins fan. Do I think we will finish better this year than we did last year? Maybe, but not enough to put any real money on it.

Well I had a string of 6-10 predictions for quite a few years . I dont see any hype for this team and one can only wonder what would have been if we weren’t trampled by injuries .

I see this team being better then last years team and capable of 9 wins . Will it be enough ? Depends on what we do in the nfc and the nfc east
