Last year, both Seattle and Oakland were charging and trying for a playoff spot, only for both to come up short.

This year, neither team looks to contend. A half game keeps us out of the bottom of the division thanks to the A's. But given our tendency to choke leads away, as demonstrated three times in Boston, I don't see us doing much here.

What if nobody showed up to watch?

Ironically both teams took polar opposite directions to get to the bottom. A's let go every vet and coaching staff member and openly tanked while the M's took the position of we are here to win and spend and...

So true and this is why I hate the term rebuild so damn much. A rebuild by their terms is drafting better, developing better, trading better, signing better players, and having it all gel at once. It is only rebuilding when you have failed to it it that way for the last 40 years and even then it isn't rebuilding it is doing it the right way fr once. It is the blue print to building a organization like winners do. It isn't a secret recipe for success like Jerry wants people to believe.

Owner doesn't care. Never has. It wouldn't surprise me to see him all it within the next couple years. Bringing up young players as marquee players and keeping long term payroll commitment down is the typical sign of gearing up to sell.

Yea we won a game

* barely beat 1 of the worst teams in the league at home. Hitting 3 home runs and still only won by a single run.

Last nites game vs OAK is truly where we are as a team. You have to have above average hitting to over come our substandard pitching staff.
And sometimes that is not enough.

Hopefully we sweep the A's - as very likely Houston dominates us all weekend.
