Yep, let's just put Gio in the game on every play. Nevermind the fact that the kid has basically been spitting blood the last three games. Until further notice, he is not durable enough to be our only back. The firm needs to be in to suck up some hits.

This, plus the article doesn't account for the fact that teams are focusing more on Bernard than earlier in the season. They should have broken up his numbers as well from the last 3 games if they were going to suggest not getting him involved is a big part of the reason the offense is faltering.

Additionally, the article suggests throwing a "plethora of passes outside the numbers", but doesn't account for the fact that teams have figured Andy out and aren't letting him only attempt passes where he's comfortable. How can you even argue taking away (for the most part) some 2/3's of the field?

Lastly, the article also doesn't consider the fact that a big part of the offense's woes the last 3 games have been Dalton and his ball placement and accuracy, as compared to the 2 games he was spectacular. It's night and day.

I don't think the author took that into account. he was looking at the whole season and not suggesting gio play injured. he was just looking at the #s

an extra YPC
all those receptions

nothing at all about playing an injured gio over green-ellis

This is a good point. It's not unlike baseball where a rookie starter can go through the league one time and look tremendous before hitters start timing him out and the ERA starts to balance out a little more. Gio is a fantastic talent -- And I think he's going to be a great playmaker for us for many years (assuming good health). The kid has tremendous football instincts and seems like he works at it. But teams figure you out -- Some of the things that he was dangerous with at the beginning of the year (swing pass) will be less successful at the end of the year. The coaches have to adjust and Gio has to adjust.

we could try letting a 3rd running back take some snaps. if peerman or burkhead aren't worthy, then get rid of their sorry asses.

Don't you dare criticize Rex Burkhead. What the hell is wrong with you? Are you not an American?

Since the Cornhusker fanboys don't take the bait anymore, someone had to do it

The Saints are using four backs. None of them build up serious stats, but all of them can play, and the Saints have no trouble running the ball when they want to. Most teams don't rely on one guy as the "bell cow" anymore. There is just too much pounding at the position.

yea, but then Drew Brees gets the credit for opening up the run game, which isn't too far fetched I guess.

Heard an interesting stat on AJs targets.
In the bengals 7 victories AJ has been targeted an average of 9.1 times
In the 4 losses he's averaged 15.3 targets

I'm not sure if that's too meaningful. if a team is losing, they are going to pass more to make up for lost time.

I suppose 'over-targeting' Green still might be a better strategy than going an entire half without even throwing it to him once.
