Evidently, the AFL will begin mid-September and go through October now. In the past, it went from Early October to mid-November.

While I liked the idea of professional baseball just a state over going into November, this is probably good to give the guys some more time off.

While I liked the idea of professional baseball just a state over going into November, this is probably good to give the guys some more time off.

The rationale seemed to be to save the minor league pitchers. If their season ends in early September, they used to wait for four weeks for the AFL to start. Now, the AFL begins as the minor league seasons end. And yes, more time off would be good for these guys, though almost all pro sports are now 24/7/365
