Last season would've been this (if they allowed me to seed the teams).
AL
(1)HOU (107-55) vs (8)TEX (78-84)
(4)OAK (97-65) vs (5)TB (96-66)

(2)NYY (103-59) vs (7)BOS (84-78)
(3)MIN (101-61) vs (6)CLE (93-69)
----------------
NL
(1)LAD (106-56) vs (8)CHC (84-78)
(4)STL (91-71) vs (5)MIL (89-73)

(2)ATL (97-65) vs (7)ARZ (85-77)
(3)WAS (93-69) vs (6)NYM (86-76)

Not sure I'd go 8, but 6 would be legit. As you can see we have a losing team with this format (Rangers, 78-84).
Also, would you want it bracketed like above or do it the way the NFL does it with the highest seed playing the lowest seed each round?

(6)TB (90-72)
(7)SEA (89-73)

No, but I'll tolerate it during the COVID bullshit as the lesser evil. 60 games ain't shit and we all know that. I could maybe be talked in 6 teams going forward if the format was good.
