Well he certainly takes a handsome picture I am sure all the Hillbilly ladies will be all over this dude!....I am not ready to extend any kind of Olive Branch...until I see what this movie looks like in 3 years...cause at the end of the day...there will be many that say HE AIN"T DOC HOLIDAY OR RICH ROD!...and I am sure there are many already saying why isn't he in Blue and Gold...just as they bitched about the Black and Silver Dana sported in the beginning...ITS COMING!!...Just watch!

I’m excited about him too.

But, he won’t unite the fan base unless he wins. Not just wins, but he is going to have at least finish 2nd in the conference and play in the CCG. At a minimum in the next few years.

Or, it’s next man up...

I would answer a qualified yes, I think everyone is probably positive about the future and will be supportive, unlike the last two coaching hires where there were a LOT of fans down on the coach from the word go. Some loved Stewart, some hated him. Some loved Holgorsen, some hated him. I think right now we are all in the middle on Brown, let's see how the team progresses in the next few years!! I am excited for WVU football going forward

I’m admittedly a little disappointed to be honest. What are we going to argue about on here now??

Plus “Down with Brown” will look good on a sign should things go south :dhd:
Preparing yourself for the worst already? Spoken like a true Mountaineer fan.

NO! I wanted Fickell, however, since he is the new HC of my alma mater, I will look at the future of Mountaineer football with cautious optimism while keeping an eye on the program that Dana builds at UH. I wil switch roles with Poppy. Our AD will remain Lyin’ Shane Lyons and No Balls, to me, until further notice.

I think we have a better chance of keeping Brown than we ever would have had keeping Fickle....I was for Fickle as well, but I think Brown will do a good job.
I think Fickell has more potential, but have read today that he is on the ND "short list" if Kelly leaves for the NFL?????? I am not sure that Fickell would have stayed long even if hired. We have a coach now, who is almost universally praised as being a good one, it is a great day to be a Mountie!!!

Yeah I think we would have been playing the "will he stay will he go" with Fickle every year.

All is well until we lose to Kansas or Iowa State

Nice to see a good hire that is not the result of a drunken celebration or scandal started from within.

The last 11 years have been tough. We were united had a team one win away from playing for the Cup. Terrible loss followed by RR bailing on us. The hiring of Bill Stewart on a the spot after a big win disappointed many. Others thought the AD blew it and could have kept RR here. The fan base was split on Stew and Ollie brings in Holgs as HCIW and causes more controversy within the fan base. This is followed by the reports of a Drunken gambling Holgs making an ass of himself. These stories are connected to Stew who is then fired. Holgs goes on for 8 years without the full support of our AD and leaves for lower tier school and pays a one million dollar buyout. Throughout all of this the team has been competitive and consistently ranked. You can’t make this shit up.

Welcome Neil Brown. Not chosen by a governor, senator, or mad scientist but by an AD who looks to have chosen the best candidate. I hope this hire Puts the soap opera behind us and the Holg lovers and RR holdouts join the bandwagon.

This is exactly what I mean about hiring HCs at WVU. You need to spend money to make money. Either you’re serious about the program or sit there and worry about coaches leaving every year.

Brown is just as good as a candidate today as Dana was 8 years ago. Everybody on this board were sky high when a Dana led offense blew the doors off a Clemson team, whether he was drunk in a casino or not. I guess everybody on this board is a freaking saint.

I support Brown because he leads my alma’s football team. If he was not hired based on his current credentials and future potential, then we will be bitching again in 3 years. I do not know too much about Brown and will read about him. Hopefully he wii reap the benefits of a good program handed over to him.

At the end of the day, don’t forget who got us this far. King Ollie and Dana. It’s up to No Balls and Brown to win the Conference Championship. I think I have 6 years left in me.

If my memory is correct, Dana was asked to leave the casino in Nitro, WV because he was being too loud. He created no ugliness. Someone from the casino called security to have him escorted out of the casino. He simply left the casino and got a taxi ride to his hotel.

Certainly... he and his group were probably loud because they were drunk. Lord knows... nobody wants to be around me after I've had a few. I have had many an establishment refuse to even let me in... let alone... ask me to leave.
