Ok I finally made a similar topic almost the same but in a different category in the same forum. The Pittsburgh pirates are now being considered, well I live in Pittsburgh as America's Team. Because they have been performing so well this 2013 season! I mean why not the pirates be America's team. The pirates have not Joan any signs of collapsing this season and people now at PNC park, fans anyway are starting to say where do we get our playoff tickets? Well I think pirate fans know where this buco team is going this season, not playoffs but they want a World Series. At 68-44 it has been nothing but a perfect season for the Pittsburgh pirates this far. They got it going on, pitching, hitting, gold glove fielding, spectacular bullpen, coming back easily in ball games, winning close ball games, they're perfect, yes they are. They have been cooking at home like they did last year, their road record is actually really good this year too compared to last year. I want to know why you guys think the pirates are now a guaranteed lock for the playoffs and why PNC Park should now start selling playoff tickets, because the bucs are sure not too show any regression or fade? Where will the pirates finish in the NL Central and what will their record be after the last game of the regular season?

Longtime Pirates fans won't say yes till it actually happens.

Go ahead and get a wild card ticket though... The playoffs start after that.

I wouldn't get too cocky, the Cardinals have a strange way of messing everything up. I think Pirates get WC and home edge. I say the win it but lose to Cardinals in NLDS

The Yankees are def America's team. You can't go to a major city without seeing someone with a New Yuark hat.

The five best teams in the NL are the five best pitching teams in the NL, too. The Pirates are definitely the underdogs due to the Braves, Cardinals, Dodgers and Reds are kinda the usual suspects in the NL as of late with the Giants and Nats bowing out early. I do think the casual audience will be rooting for the Dodgers, though, because of Kershaw and Puig. The collective baseball audience will likely root for the Pirates.

I say they win the division yes
Cardinals vs Reds looms? I hope not. Wild Card is not a good place to be.

I think the NL needs a Braves v Cardinals series and a Pirates v Dodgers series. I think the Cards probably want to avoid the Braves but the Cards and Braves have kinda been dancing around each other the past 2 years and a full series would be nice. Pirates v Dodgers is about as David and Goliath as you can get in MLB playoffs while still having 2 great teams to watch.

Even though I'm an AL guy. It's gonna be a great race coming up.

I wouldn't say "guaranteed lock", but it would take a collapse of epic proportions for them to not at least get the 2nd wild card slot.

I really want the Pirates to beat the Braves in the playoffs, preferably in the NLCS...

But that's getting way ahead of myself.

Well it looks like the 2 WC and the best record are all coming from the central... too bad we will not have the opportunity to see a good 7 game series between any of the teams from the central...

Nothing is guaranteed. But I give them as good of odds as anybody.

I would actually be kinda stunned if the best record came out of the Central. We are going to beat each other up.

You're no lock but you're well closing in on it. Tell ya' what, and see if I'm not being fair. Win for another month to get you around 82-60 or better, then come back and we'll discuss odds of probability. Think that's easy?? Not this time of year it's not. Do it, then we talk-- and that's my bottom line.. fair enough??

Here's the thing the pirates last year were 19-42 on the road, and right now they are having no trouble winning because they never lose at home really, just like last year. Question is will the pirates keep up this firepower when they hit the road to go to Colorado and St. Louis. If the pirates struggle on that road trip they might be looking up to Atlanta,St Louis, or L.A. Tell me right now overall are the pirates better than the braves right now? As hot as the braves have been lately. What's the one thing that concerns you if your a pirate fan now? The bullpen getting overworked and tired right? I think that's the only way for the bucs to collapse is if the bullpen starts to fade. I think the reason why the pirates are winning now is because they are at home like I said, and they have not shown that they can win on the road, being a really dominant road team. Longtime pirate fans say what? They won't start talking playoffs until they get the job done at the end of the season. Every team in baseball will have a downfall, when will the pirates downfall come this second half? When will the wheel fall off the cart? Never? It seems like now it'll be never, and that's not a jinx. So should they start selling playoff tickets now or would that be a jinx.

Damn dude...

It's now August 8th & the Pirates are 3 clear in the division..... Just relax and enjoy this. It's just about guaranteed that they will break the streak (win for us) And they would have to play worse than the Astros coming down the stretch to miss any piece of the Playoffs & I don't see that happening. Too many guys are stepping up right now. J Hay has been clutch, Cutch is being Cutch. Just seems like a different guy is stepping up each night. Last night was their 27th come from behind win... Being on the road doesn't concern me as long as the don't go out there and get swept by team. A few series losses is to be expected but they just need to avoid sweeps out there and continue to ride the electricity at PNC when they are at home.

Downfall? No, not a chance. Cooldown & lose the division? I'd say there is a good chance of that but I wouldn't call that a downfall.

That's all I was really saying is to be realistic, yes it would be surprising to see them keep this up, because the bucs were absolutely unstoppable at PNC last year and its showing the year too and ere wet are in early August. The pirates road record was not bad at last year except when the start of the second half started in that home series vs the cubbies. Yes the cubs were firing on all cylinders in that particular 4 game set. Starlin Castro hit a grand slam, and their were some fielding errors. Tell me the truth about what the pirates might do the rest of this season beginning today August 8th. Tell me the good news
About the pirates and bad news about the 2013 buccos. Let me ask where do the pirates rank in most come from behind wins in baseball this season, where can I find that statistic? My issue with the pirates is the right field and the bullpen getting tired finally.

Cards need to go 4-1 against the Bucs this month to catch up.

I guess everyone here believes that the pirates are guaranteed to make the postseason. Tell me on this road trip starting tonight for the bucs. Will they play like the same team at home or even better on the road?
