I don't have Disney insider, but it says in their rumors that Vancouver needs a winger & the Isles might have the solution. Who are they supposedly talking about, Blake Comeau?

I'm getting nothing from the Canucks' writers via Twitter.

I would do that if I were the Islanders, Luongo only blows up in the playoffs. He would be amazing with them all the time

I have only found this and it was more a suggestion from a writer than a rumour

Canadian Corner – July 18, 2011. | Spectors Hockey

Gordon McIntyre, writing in “The White Towel” blog, compared this year’s Canucks lineup to last year’s at this time, observing that there was still a fair bit of uncertainty last summer facing a team many predicted to be the favorite to be the Western Conference contender for the 2011 Stanley Cup:

“(Keith)Ballard was expected to be a top-four D-man, especially since Sami Salo had just ruptured his Achilles tendon. No one in the public at that time knew Ballard had had hip surgery three months earlier.

Chris Tanev was merely a human-interest story based on a Guiness Records growth spurt, Shane O’Brien a lock to be in the top-six, Aaron Rome someone who would be kept around for drills at practice and insurance, and Andrew Alberts the butt of jokes based on his play since being acquired at the 2010 trade deadline.

There were questions as to whether Cory Schneider would provide sufficient backup goaltending and Joel Perrault had the inside track at being the starting fourth-line centre between Darcy Hordichuk and Tanner Glass or Rick Rypien.”

Looking at the roster as it currently stands, McIntyre wonders what the Canucks will do with Cody Hodgson, suggests Victor Oreskovich the likely candidate to replace the departed Tanner Glass, and hopes Ballard and Alexander Edler will improve. He also points out the club still lacks a big winger who can keep up with Ryan Kesler, plus lacks size up front.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: McIntyre’s self-admitted fantasy deal of prying winger Matt Moulson away from the NY Islanders for Ballard and Hodgson aside, it could take a creative trade or two to adequately address the Canucks needs for more size at forward and a quality linemate for Kesler. They currently have just over $3.8 million remaining in available cap space, but that’ll be reduced once Jannik Hansen gets his new contract via negotiation or arbitration.

Don Taylor would go crazy if Moulson joined the Canucks. As we know, Matt Moulson is golden.

Moulson signed a three year 9.3 million extension during the season. He's best friends with Tavares.

It's a nice pipe dream by the writer though. Ballard & Hodgson?? LMFAO!!

i wouldnt LMFAO on Hodgson. He can be a very good player. BUT can he be with our system and team/coach. Hard to say. Ballard is that writer throwing away some big cap space I think.

this is all I can find. I dont even see anything on ESPn for it on their insider previews.

I saw it earlier today. The Islanders need to add a defenseman & will have the cap space for Ballard if the Canucks want to DUMP HIM. Moulson isn't available.

It's hard to say what kind of player Hodgson will be. He's missed a lot of games due to injury & the Canucks are deep at Center. The only spot possibly available is on the 4th line. I imagine Cody has more upside than that.

Comeau's arbitration hearing is August 4th. The Isles don't tell anyone anything about what they're going to do. All the so called experts had the Islanders taking Dougie Hamilton. They based this on what they perceived as a NEED. After Strome was selected we found out that Ryan had been working out in Toronto with Tavares & Moulson. He was the Isles pick all along.

He scored 24 goals last year playing with Frans Neilson & Grabner for the most part.

Blake is a good skater with a wicked shot. I mean he can really rip it. He needs to shoot the puck more. He will never be a physical force, but he doesn't shy away from forechecking.

I realize any player can be traded. I just don't think the Isles would trade Moulson. Pissing off Tavares going into the final year of his ELC isn't a good idea.

Speaking of Raymond, somebody was discussing him at Calgarypuck (as they saw him at he Calgary Stampede) and he's still wearing the body brace that he was wearing in the Stanley Cup Finals.
