So what the fuck are we thinking? This is an incredibly idiotic move on our part. Yes I know he's been injury prone and you can basically bank on him missing at least 4 games but we still should have exercised this option. Now basically if he has a great year and stays healthy he will demand more than we can afford and he heads off to free agency while we received nothing in return, even if he gets hurt again we will still get nothing. Horrible move in my opinion.

I think its a good move. You cant count on him being healthy so why pick it up. If he stays healthy this year we can still resign him. Also it maybe wrong but online I read that 5th year option is 13 million and franchise tag is 17 million. So if he does have a great season worst comes to worst its only 5 million more to tag him.

He's not worth that much at this moment in time, where you cannot bank on his health.

He is worth a little more, if he in fact turns out healthy and awesome.

I'm not surprised.

That is a decent point, franchise tag would be our only hope of keeping him though. I know that otherwise the asking price will be too high for us to afford.

...only if he stays healthy. Are we really considering that likely?

Is he the next Pats signee next year?
