Amazing just amazing story. Watched it 2x
Yeah I agree....I never really thought he had a shot at catching the ball but sure enough when they took bartman and the fans out of the video he had a legit shot! Also didn't realize that gonzo booted that double play. He's lucky bartman happened
well I think it was more about the average fan average American if you mention it they know the bartman incident. also during the game the fans were clearly blaming bartman. that asshole chant wasn't for gonzo. also like the story said why was buckner blamed and a scapegoat when it was the wild pitch that let the mets tie the game?
Cubs fans blame Bartman because that WAS the turning point. Up until that moment, it was pretty much a foregone conclusion. At that moment, the doubts and the thoughts of curses came back into everyone's mind. There was just a general feeling that we were going to lose the game and the series from that moment on. It's hard to describe unless you are a Cubs fan, but there is an ominous feeling that floats over Wrigley Field that something will always go wrong. Bartman reminded everyone of that.
Is what happened to him unfair? Probably. At the same time, Cubs fans invested thousands of dollars and hours into that team. It's alright to have empathy while realizing that this man took away one of the greatest moments of your life. I have no problem with Steve Bartman, but it bothers me when people act like that play wasn't a big deal. It was a big deal, and anybody who follows the Cubs knows that.
Didn't the Cubs blow a 3 games to 1 lead in that series?
