anyone familiar with Thunderbolt 3 ?

I've been looking for a new Windows box, preferably something with the OS installed on a SSD.

I was looking at this:

I noticed it included something called Thunderbolt 3 on the mini-USB port on the back.

Doing a little investigating, I learned that TB3 supports transfer rates up to 40Gb/s.

I'm curious if this is something anyone has actually used. I looked around for something that might actually be used with this. Here is a portable drive:

Samsung Portable SSD T5 | Samsung External Storage

has a transfer rate of something like 2Gb/s. Newegg was selling it for about $270. read a review where someone was using it as a boot device for some sort of Mac.

Has anyone here used Thunderbolt 3?

Its a faster standard that runs on USB-C. USB-C was just used for USB 3.1 connections which were 10 Gb/s. Now there is Thunderbolt 3 which increases that speed to 40 Gb/s and adds other device support.
