My wife is in the midst of going through her grandmother's belongings (lives in NJ) as her POA in moving her to a nursing home and came across this ball. I can't tell the name, but it looks vaguely like a 'C' first name and an 'F' last name.

I have no experience with autographs and this very well could be just a minor league player on autograph duty, but wanted to see if anyone could recognize the signature and if it has any value whatsoever so we could liquidate it and add it to her estate for long term care (Alzheimer's). If not, donated to a local little league team for batting practice.

I was gonna say maybe Clem Labine but after looking up his autograph, it is not him.

Clete Boyer?

Doesn't look like his old autograph. But that looks like a new ball. Maybe he signed it as an old man?

Actually found in the bedroom of my wife's biological deadbeat father. No clue what fan base. Just trying to figure out if it should be trashed or not. Considering it was wrapped in plastic, he at least thought it was worth something 20-30 years ago.

I'm sure it's worth something, to somebody.

Not sure if it will be worth much money. If nothing else you might be able to make someone's day at the home. Once we figure out who it is, what team they played for en sech.

Sounds good. I figured that it probably wouldn't be worth much actual cash since I didn't recognize the signature right away, and like you said, it may be a favorite player of someone at the home and make their day as a gift.

Take the ball to a sports shop that sell cards and ask them.

That's the plan unless someone is able to identify beforehand. There was also a locker of cards to go through as well.

Do you suspect it was wrapped 20-30 years ago, or signed 20-30 years ago?

Is it an official AL or NL ball? Those typically have a stamped signature by the league pres, that could help date the ball. Do you have any clues at all for when the ball was signed?

I haven't seen it in person yet and that's the only picture my wife sent. While we're both fans, we don't know anything about autographs or verifying their authenticity. Once I get a better look at it, I'll see if I can provide any additional details.

Okay....no other markings on the ball whatsoever.
