Good for the OP. Overnighting is really fun and allows for greater remote access. About the only journaling I did was when I hiked in the Adirondacks.

Spent a ton of time in the Georgia Mountains in my youth. Life took over after college and I stopped for some reason. Wife and younguns wont go out with me. Screw it, I'll go alone.

I have been thinking about the woods a lot this last year. Started gathering gear about a month ago. Getting ready buy new boots. My old Danner's are about shot. Also in the market for a pack.

Should look into the BH Crag area here in Idaho. Decent access but still quite remote. Beautiful views. Plan on at least 5 days from Boise area as it takes a day to get there and a day back, plus a day hike to the good areas. Might as well plan on a week.

Nod you still plan on coming to Jax for the game or are you back in Orlando for that work convention you attended last spring?

Didn't make it to the work convention. Working for a different client now and his company doesn't go to that.
I'm hoping to make it to Jax, but will need to see how things go. That will be a month before the wedding and since we decided to have the wedding here at the farm I've got a lot to get done.

Understandable. Well if you decide to come let me know. I would love to meet you and ODD and buy you guys a few beers. I am still disappointed I missed you last year and @OldDevilDawg wedding with my pops being on his last days and normal family stuff last year was tough. Next time you are gonna be down this way let me know. Life seems a bit more settled these days. PS Go Noles.

Yep. We backpack in Yosemite or Stanislaus NF. I love how much nicer the park is once you walk the one mile from the parking lot which most people never do.

Went on one this past weekend. I think it had been 3 years since the last one. Just over 22 miles in a 2 day/1 night trip. It was the gf's first backpacking trip, so I packed most of our stuff in my pack, and gave her one of my larger daypacks. She liked it, so it looks like we'll try to get in a couple more this year. I'll need to look for some more trails within a short drive away.

July 4th weekend, took a family trip to Colorado. We hiked the 15 mile Anderson Loop near Pagosa Springs, CO. It was Mr. T2's first backpacking trip ever and Baby T2's third. I got to cross "hike the Rockies" and climb a mountain over 10K feet off my bucket list. We camped at 11,200 feet beside a lake on top of the mountain.

Mr. T2 learned the hard way, what you carry is the difference between finishing a trail and enjoying it. He did say after it was all over and he survived, he did love it and will be gearing up more wisely for next time.

We saw a bear, marmot, pika, elk, muley, and a variety of birds.
