Any deer hunters in here?

What state(s) do you hunt? What are your preferred methods/weapons?

I'm in Kentucky, but originally from Ohio. I mostly hunt here in KY, but I do go back up to Ohio occasionally.

Muzzleloader and rifle seasons are my time. Haven't done archery in years. Will be trying out a flintlock rifle I inherited from my uncle this fall.

I mostly hunt in Georgia. I went to Arkansas last year and loved it, so will do that again.

I use a crossbow for bow season.

If I’m hunting around the house(thick woods and hilly terrain) in gun season, I use my trusty Marlin 30-30.

If I’m hunting a field, I use a 30-06

Clean and process my own kills. I keep two freezers full

I was literally looking for this forum to talk about deer season! It’s about to start in SC!

I live on a couple (300) acres and have a couple of spots that regularly produce respectable, but not spectacular, bucks. I hunt for a couple of reasons… it’s kind of a tradition for the family, I understand how much the deer population relies on hunting to keep a healthy herd, and damn I love some deer chili! I use the trusty old .308. No reason to fix what ain’t broken.

On another note, South Carolina is considering banning dog drives, and that has opened up a whole can of worms. My argument is that humans and dogs have been hunting side by side for thousands and thousands of years… what possible reason could there be to get rid of that kind of history?

Youth hunt started today here.

Great chance for the all dads out there to go shoot a big buck before anyone else has the chance. And then take a picture with your eight year old holding the rack.

Same story every year, documented on Facebook.
