The salary cap was the beginning of the end of a team being able to hold onto its players Ad Finitum. Not that I don’t think that some parity or leveling the playing field wasn’t required.

And more advertising dollars for the TV networks with many more games being close in the 4th quarter to keep the TV viewer from changing channels. It's sad but the almighty dollar controls almost everything in life.
