When there's so much money on the line for even a sniff at the league I can't blame some kids for going to even start at a 3rd rate school, but most really won't have a shot. Staying gives you more access and experience at a top flight program with long term impact potential on coaching themselves.

They are kids making major life decisions with far reaching implications on their lives. Can't really blame them even if the choice is dumb.

At this point it's a necessity. I can't imagine Chub, or whatever his name is, is another Cardale Jones (maybe he is?). OSU is pretty much an injury away from disaster otherwise.

I don't understand. If he wanted to just easily start in year one why go to Ohio St in the first place? He still would have competed with Tate even if Fields didn't transfer in.

It’s not as if OSU has ever put a back up in at quarterback and they carved up that vaunted UM defense.

My guess is they just go after a grad transfer in the portal. Tommy Stevens would be an interesting one. I'm not sure that he has starter chops, but he could be a solid backup if need be.

Yeah Day will find a guy and then they will have 2 backups just in case. I'm hoping Fields is durable though

This is the biggest impact I see on the transfer rule. It’s going to be really hard to have any kind of depth at quarterback.
