Today the team honors this man:

While we each have our opinions on this, please remember this is a GDT. As for the actual game, this team has a bad history of not showing up to games where there's big ceremonies involved. They've asked fans to be in their seats by 6:30. Have fun to those who are gong!

Sold these tickets a long time ago. I have no desire to participate in this celebration. I have a couple of reasons but in the end I don't think it's an honor that he earned.

Blake is in the HOF and won a Norris as a King.
Did some things to upset the fans. I understand what the team is doing but I think Ox did the right thing: don't go and support him. I hope no one boos just because today isn't the day for that, but a round of silence would be nice to hear

I don't think so. I wasn't in the living room but the daughter and grandson were watching the ceremony and I didn't hear any. A lot of nice polite applause. Nothing overly loud that I heard.

Blake did make a joke about the Ducks getting boo-d so he wasn't the only one.

As for the game. A better start than most of these celebration games. Normally the Kings are down by at least 2 goals after the first period of these affairs. Or at least it seems to be that way.

I agree. Lakerboy if he was that much of a favorite player you would most likely know he never played for the Rangers. Just to update you. He was traded to Colorado along with Steve Reinprecht for Adam Deadmarsh, Aaron Miller and Jared Aulin plus 2 first round draft picks. He then came back to the Kings as a free agent after winning the Cup in Colorado to supposedly stay and retire as a King. But for some reason after his 2-year contract was up he bolted to San Jose as a free agent. I think he retired as a Shark. I know he never came back to the Kings until he was hired as Hextall's replacement as assistant GM. There's a short history of the end of your favorite player's end to his career.

The way he went to SJ is what bothered me. At the trade deadkine, We all knew he wanted to leave. The kings tried to trade him and he refused to waive his NTC. Then he goes there in the off season. Kings could have got something, a pick a prospect a bag of pucks, but Blake blocked it.
