"America´s Team" and the Dallas Cowboys originated with NFL Films for those old enough to remember that.

This was there opening for their 1978 highlight film...

The Cowboys are the Notre Dame of professional football.
No matter where they play, their fans are there to greet them.
Their faces are recognized by fans all across this country.
The sum total of their stars are a galaxy.
They are the Dallas Cowboys….America’s Team.

It's probably not a coincidence that the 3 franchises with the biggest national followings all had dominant periods during the years the NFL was becoming popular on television.

not a coincidence at all. The teams that were really good after TV was big and before cable was big, have large national followings. True for all sports.

The cowboys do have the best looking cheerleaders. It is beyond me why some teams don't make a better effort of this part of the game. If you want these girls to represent your franchise, do charity events and promotional duties, then pay enough to attract those that are both attractive but also eloquent and intelligent. It isn't hard to do.

When I own the team that is the first thing I do. Raise their pay enough to attract the best and brightest to represent my franchise.

I was a Green Bay fan as a child cause we didn't have a team. All us kids just picked one. I think part of the attraction for Green Bay is the lack of an ego driven owner. Its actually owned by the fans and that is unique and really cool. The other attraction that doesn't hurt is having a couple very popular quarterbacks. Now they got the Man with the Golden Arm and like him or not, he is real popular.

No cheerleaders? What is this world coming to? Actually Buffalo doesn't either since a couple of past cheerleaders are suing them.

If that's the criteria then no way Dallas still meets it. Their fans don't even show up to home games.

And I might be able to recognize Romo and Dez in a lineup. I do remember more of those great 90's teams than I do the current team.

The Cowboys stadium holds 80,000 people with a standing room capacity of 105,000. Century Field holds 67,000 with a standing room capacity of 72,000. Since both always sell out, I can see why one would be harder for traveling fans to get a ticket than the other.

Probably means the most popular team in the NFL which is something the Seahags will never be.

Oh, so you guys are (or were) like the prom queens of the NFL. Guess that explains this monstrosity.

I think technically Dallas holds both those titles.

Who cares. That's my point. I see quite a few Cowboys fans almost bragging about being considered "America's Team". Who gives a shit??? Obviously them but who really gives a shit??

This cracks me up. Guns gets off on thinking he roots for the most popular team in the NFL. Typical bandwagon mentality.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

We're in direct competition for "Canada's Team".

Not to mention that Jerry World is still relatively new and a spectacle that traveling fans want to see. There are other stadiums that people specifically want to see, but not all.

i'm canadian. Explain this Luby's???

It's a restaraunt that's more like a school cafeteria. Food is serviceable but the place is mainly populated by old folks who are there for the 4pm buffet. :pound:

quite a few? I don't see anyone other than people trolling. I see other fans get riled up over it, but Dallas fans couldn't care less.
