I honestly don't think the election or politics itself is gonna be a huge mainstay of the season. I think the election was just used as a setting to let the viewers know why these things are happening. I highly doubt the election or politics is used as a main storyline from here on out. Seems like they are just focusing on Sarah's character's "hallucinations" (maybe) of the clowns and how it's affecting her son and the addition of Winter and Kai into their lives. We'll see though. Either way, they didn't seem to be focusing too much on the election in the first episode. I think it was just used as a time setting and showing the extreme reactions from both sides of the political spectrum.

Yes but it is the ground work of the election and the roots of each characters development. Even if they move away from it like you said and they don't make it a mainstay it will be the root of each character.

Also, not a fan at all about using kids in horror films. Especially one of which is as gruesome as what was in episode 1. I get the kids and ghosts in horror films, but using kids as a plot of warping their mind, no thanks. This is just a personal preference and nothing against AHS. I just hate seeing kids in these type of roles.

I...think so? Ryan Murphy isn't the best at subtle anything. I feel like if it were intentional, it'd be way more campy and eyerolling.

That's one of the reasons this show lost me, they bash you over the head with every theme/message. Even Murder House, while very good, wasn't particularly subtle.

i don't like the premise much, but i must say this episode was actually pretty scary... But i will admit i am a bit of a wuss...

As far as we know right now, it's separate. But who knows how it will all unfold.

I think at this point literally everyone is part of the cult except for Paulson's character. They're all gaslighting her

Kai reminds me of the Joker... a psychologically manipulative sociopath. He's very good at identifying damaged people who are vulnerable to his mind games, and then pressing their buttons. Not surprising since he supposedly tested as a genius when he was a child.

Actor Evan Peters is killing it in this role.

Have the same take. Outside of the first season and last season, I don't feel like it attempted at anything resembling horror.

Any of you AHS fans catch the premiere tonight? The theme for this season is the end of the world. It's also gonna be bringing back characters from Murder House and Coven.

I thought the premiere was ok. Nothing special. It had to rush through a lot of set up but it was intriguing enough to see where this goes.

I'm assuming that supernatural forces/witchcraft was the means by which the aircraft was flying without pilots. (as opposed to remote control tech).

After Timothy took his shower he saw 666 in the mirror and heard a whispering woman warning him... was the voice one of the witches from Coven?

At the end of the episode, the anti-christ child from season 1 (Michael Langdon) shows up at the outpost as an adult, and apparently is one of the important members (or perhaps the leader) of the Cooperative.
