Washington
Washington placed QB Alex Smith (leg surgeries) on active/PUP.
It gives the organization a chance to see where he's at during camp. The team can always opt to remove him at any point ahead of the regular season, though any extended stay would guarantee his absence through Washington's first six games. Smith remains under contract through 2022 — Washington does have a team-friendly out with "only" $16.2 million in dead cap to take on after this year — but the team should know where the 36-year-old stands health-wise by the time their regular season opener commences on September 13.
