He is correct in that hospitals are filled with less than savory germs. It's filled with... sick people.

It isn't very likely that's how Alex got infected, however. That's just the name of the game when you got a compound fracture like this; that's why they try to do surgery ASAP is my recollection following this.

Yes, but the implication was that somehow "these days" hospitals are particularly bad. Which was what I found odd...

glad everything cleared up. IM assuming they sent you to an infectious disease specialist. You probably were prescribed broad spectrum antiobiotics, then more potent ones.........then needed targeted antiobiotics, and IV due to the spreading infection, blood stream risk etc. Im assuming, but know how it works

Yes. My PCP prescribed two different antibiotics and over a two week period. This first one wasn't as strong as the second one but neither did anything. They screwed up the culture test which came out negative and they referred me to a infectious disease specialist. It started to get worse waiting for the appointment so I went to the Urgent Care. The doctors there were better. He cut it open again and cleaned it up and took another culture. It showed a staph infection. More oral antibiotics which didn't help. The specialist went all out and took blood tests and xray then ordered IV which I did for four days. The last day they upped the dosage. The tests came out clean. Had to go through alot of crap just for a dumb cut finger.

Geeze man glad it’s ok . I had a battle with mrsa a few years ago after a surgery. Was on like 6 courses of antibiotics plus three surgeries. It’s rough

Theismann sounded a little shaken up about it a day or so later when I heard him do an interview.

It being Smiths injury.

I only read a snip from JT on AS's leg...he almost did sound like he was going through it all over again. Both just brutal.

I am sure he will be fine. Even if he had a staph infection they almost always go away with oral antibiotics if it is caught early and does not spread. I was just one of the few unlucky ones.

I'm afraid he might have a bone infection from the break. Those don't treat as easily and usually not with oral meds. Godspeed Alex!

It's crazy he was there and it was the anniversary.

Haven't heard LT talk about Smith injury yet. But I want to.

usually when thy say complications like that, thats what it is. Also if he has a compound spiral fracture, he most likely has some hardware in his leg. Its when the infection gets into the foreign material that its hard. Because there is no blood supply to that area. Often they need to then remove the hardware completely, insert antibiotic spacers, go on extended rounds of IV's , and then at a later date redo the surgery. Im hoping thats not it

Any time you are dealing with the bones, it is scary. I just really hope they get it sorted out and he makes a full recovery. He's one of the really good guys out there.

As for the "chet" thing. I'm pretty sure that's a Hank original. I'm Canadian and that's not a term I am familiar with. Lol.

He has not released that information. This would be a hippa violation for somebody to release it without his permission.
I'm calling bullshit on this "info" Probably a reporter faking info to force Alex to release correct info.
I hope he sues the shit out of the reporter.....

I am no HIPPA expert, but I would be less than surprised to learn journalists are exempt...
