I think he's earned this much at least. He deserves a lot more respect than guys like Cassel, Deberg, and Grbac got here, just my opinion. Smith has conducted himself with dignity, professionalism, and introspection that is rare in the sport. Just some fun highlight videos, no more pissing contests if good is good enough or game manager this or that. I sincerely wish him the best in Washington and probably will root for Washington while he's there even though I have criticized Alex a lot the past year or so.

He had some good seasons with the Chiefs but was mostly let down by other factors in the playoffs. I also think he left Kansas City a better QB than when he came in and you can tell by the way Niners fans generally talk about him.

You don't trade 2 first round picks for a QB prospect if you think Alex Smith is the future. It doesn't change the fact that the guy dominated his division for 2 years straight and generally speaking has owned the Raiders and Chargers.
