After four years of sucking balls, Alex Gordon, at age 35, is on pace for a career year. It's still early, obviously, but he isn't slowing down any. However, he is on pace to get HBP 35 times this year, so if that stat doesn't drop back some, he'll ultimately see some DL time.

Here is a question for Blackfrancis, Moose on 3rd and other KCR fans. Does it irritate you that this guy is finally living up to expectations in his walk year? What the fuck was his problem the last four years? Injuries were part of it but he would have underperformed regardless. Making $20 million a year isn't enough motivation? Do you wish that maybe Lorenzo Cain would have gotten that money instead of Gordon? It's not like KC is ever going to have multiple huge contracts on their roster. I mean, he has a mutual option for next year at what I am guessing is $20 million. KC won't go there no matter how good he is this year (fool me once and shit...). So, in reality, this is his walk year.

Hmmm, Alex Gordon may frequently be late to the party if you compare to what might've been, but I am plenty happy with what he has given the Royals. Had some big hits in each WS. What's not to like? Not a HOF'er? Doesn't mean I can't appreciate him, flawed as it may be.

Was crying in laughter when a local radio honk otw to work yesterday was dogging Gordon for not changing his batting stance/approach in 16 and 17 while simultaneously praising Hosmer saying he didn't need to. Now that’s peak hypocrisy.

Wrist injury (in '15?) plus stubbornness led to him taking too long to change his approach at the plate. He made a small mechanical change to his swing last August and has been pretty lights out since. Combine that with platinum glove caliber defense and I couldn't be much happier with him. We'll see what happens in the off season. Mad at him? No. He's the closest thing we have to a George Brett for this generation.

Also, his WS Game 1 HR in 2015 set the tone for that series and is one of my favorite beisbol moments.

I, for one, am surprised at his resurgence. I thought he was done and I thought he just mentally didn't have any confidence at the plate anymore. A lot of times when that happens, the player never gets it back.

I'm happy to see it, though. Alex is a likable guy and nobody works harder.

Hosmer was the Ben Simmons of MLB just about at 1B, now he's... well, whatever bad is.

Hosmer by his standards has been an every other year player for legit his whole career.

He’s dig himself an early hole so far in a year that’s supposed to be one of his “good” ones.

Dude doesn't want to change. Makes him very vulnerable when he hits the ball hard... into the ground.

Good for him, I've always had a soft spot for the Royals team. Some great talent on the team, hope they get back to being good again soon.

Dude's put together a hell of a career considering he never quite lived up to his potential as a hitter (though he did have a nice run from 2011-15 with a 121 OPS+ and finished in the top 6 in WAR three times). Amazing fielder.

I've got no beef with what Gordon has done in his career

Considering he as being compared to George Brett before he even came up, I'd say he's done enough to justify his draft status.

Gordon changed is stance (more upright) and his hands

Also quit being so selective.

He is attacking early so he doesnt get forced into chasing the off speed shit low and away

Which is funny because when he struggled early in his career, his demeanor was the same as it is now.

Only back then, the popular thought was that he didn't care and didn't work hard enough

I'd say those who came to that conclusion were the lazy ones, because that is a pretty lazy conclusion.
