Something tells me this will be the last week of Boone if they struggle again
They need to do something if they don’t start winning. They have one of the highest payrolls in the game. They should be putting up better results then this. I heard on the Michael Kay show today that there’s people out there that want them to rip this team apart and rebuild from the bottom up. The only problem I see with trying to get players via trad is no team will want to take on stantons huge contact.

They aren’t going to rip it up. They just don’t operate that way. I also doubt they could move Stanton unless they ate maybe 50-60% of what they owe him? He already can’t play in the field at all and he has 7 years left? Not sure who else is signing up for that one.

That felt like a huge win, just because the pitching stepped up after a horrible week. They did blow it in the 9th but quickly bounced back to walk it off. They went 7-7 vs HOU/NYY/TOR, which I can't complain much about even if they got thoroughly outplayed in most of those losses. They finally get a day off on Thursday

The pitching is what we thought it was. Apparently having a rotation of five #3 or #4 starters who allow 2 baserunners in every inning is not a good way to live. Let’s just hope the bullpen keeps overachieving because they are going to need that group more and more.

The franchise is worth $5B+, and they're only paying out $210M. Just a few days away from full capacity.

Contending for a title is really an afterthought. Nice if it happens, but the money train will keep on rolling regardless.

Sigh.

Payroll isn’t the problem, though. The Yankees have always been willing to spend. They just didn’t seem to spend it properly this time around? I’m still not writing them off, by the way.

These are not the same Yankees. They'll spend to put a decent enough team on the field to sell tickets, but they're more interested in profits than winning playoff games.

I think this sums it up:

Dodgers are worth $3.5B, their payroll is north of $260M

Yanks are worth $5.25B, and they won't make any signings that will put them over the $210M cap to avoid the luxury tax hit.
