Jay's EE based on longer track record of being a proven power hitter and higher BA than Crush...but Davis could catch him with another year or two like last.

Being a homer, I would pick Davis. But, I really can't argue with this. EE is a really good player. He strikes out a lot less then Davis does also.

1 year ago, you would get the love of Texas but with him being injured almost all of last year we have to see how he comes back this year.

It is more surprising to me that Napoli is not getting any recognition.

BTW I voted Davis right now.

Agreed.

I'd go with Davis right now. I think the power numbers come down a little, but I think he'll bat around .270/.345/.560. Still very good.

I think Encarnacion's track record indicates that he's far less likely to have another season like '12 or '13.

Maybe if some of those seasons were a little more recent than 2012 or 2013.

It's not like Encarnacion was riding some kind of high BABIP either of those years... in fact, it's quite the opposite. Encarnacion's never been known for high BABIPs (career of just .275), but his last two seasons are actually below that (.266 in 2012 and .247 in 2013).

Encarnacion wasn't great in 2011 at all, but he did bat .291/.382/.504 in the 2nd half (.305 BABIP). His walk rate went from 3.5% in the 1st half (which is absymal) to 12.5%, which is above average. He also had a low K% all year (15.1% in 1st half, 14.0% in 2nd). Strikeouts have never really been an issue for him, but he's been drawing more walks over the last 2 1/2 years.
