As of today the AFC Playoff teams and seedings are as follows:

1. New England Patriots
2. Oakland Raiders
3. Pittsburgh Steelers
4. Houston Texans
5. Kansas City Chiefs
6. Miami Dolphins

If nothing changes the Pats and Raiders get the Bye and the Dolphins will visit the Steelers and the Chiefs will visit the Texans. If this holds true, my guess is that the Chiefs will be coming to Foxboro and the Steelers will be going to Oakland. Here are the big problems..............Oakland is playing Denver in their final game without Derek Carr who broke his leg Sunday. The Chiefs are plying San Diego at home. The Broncos are out but they'd like nothing more than to end their season 8-8 and put the Raiders in the 5 spot. I think come next Monday, the Chiefs will be #2 and the Raiders will be #5.

This what I think things will look like next Monday morning:

1. New England Patriots
2. Kansas City Chiefs
3. Pittsburgh Steelers
4. Houston Texans
5. Oakland Raiders
6. Miami Dolphins

Miami still is visiting the Steelers and now we have Oakland visiting Houston. The Steelers are playing well and I don't think the Dolphins can beat any of the top three without Tannehill at QB. That will put the Steelers in Kansas City for what just may be the best playoff game of this series. The Raiders and Texans will be going to Foxboro for a long night in the freezing cold.

The AFC Championship looks like it will be played in Foxboro, MA with either the Chiefs or the Steelers playing the Patriots for a shot to go to Super Bowl LI.

Thoughts??

So the Patriots and Raiders seem to be the only AFC teams in the playoffs with something to play for next week.

I'm sure Belichick rests people like Hightower and Bennett but play Brady unless the Dolphins look like they're trying to hurt him or something.

With Carr being out, this order seems highly probable. I have no clue who will win the HOU/OAK game.

I'm thinking the Steelers will edge the Chiefs. Ben comes to Foxboro looking to avenge the RS game where he was on the sideline. It's a shame that he will fail.

Patriots rest everybody but the ball boy. Oakland beats Denver to take the top seed. Patriots meet the Raiders in Oakland for the AFCCG and I get to go watch the Pats clinch the SB game!

Oh what the hell. You know I want the #1 seed but just thinking.....

I could get a AFCCG ticket at Oakland for under $500 right now. Probably get cancelled and refunded but.....

The prices are dropping as fast as the ticket agencies realize what Carr's injury means to their team.....

I think a lot depends on how much the Bronco still want to play football.

Thing is the Patriots want to make sure this year they get the #1 seed and also show the Dolphins what the Patriots can do even without the tricks.

Thing is, if the Raiders fall out or the game is played in Foxborough, I get my money back. If the Raiders win next weekend, prices will probably start to climb.
You can do the same for any unlikely city that still has a mathematical chance to be in the AFCCG.....

Steelers tickets right now under $300 (at Pittsburgh) refundable if no game there. I would not buy this because being played at Pitt means the Pats did not make it.

After that FU! the Chiefs pulled with that last minute TD pass with Poe - I don't think the Broncos would really care too much if they dropped one to the Raiders, out of spite for the Chiefs. Could be an unwise decision from Andy Reid.

Kubiak wants to finish at 9-7. Closing with a final loss and 8-8 could cost Kubiak his job. If the Broncos lose, Elway may think that he lost control of the team. That would be bad for Elway's persona also.

Without Carr to operate the Raiders offense, the Broncos may be able to score enough and the Broncos defense keep the Raiders from scoring mush. 19-10 Broncos. The chiefs will beat the Chargers and move to #2.

I don't think Matt Moore will beat the Patriots in Miami.

I think the Steelers will visit the Chiefs and the Texans will visit the Patriots.

If I had to bet...........Chiefs and Patriots for the AFC Championship in Foxboro.

I'm all for that.. You would think last years champ would want to at least make a statement.

In a weird twist, I think the Fish rest their dinged-up players in this one, and the Pats go all in. They didn't flex the NE @ Miami game and the Chiefs could sleepwalk and still beat a decimated Charger team. Which will secure at minimum, the 5th seed.

Miami could move into the 5th seed - but I think it's really, really a long shot. They will play Pittsburgh again and I don't think they're afraid of Pittsburgh, having trashed them earlier in the year.

Right on BK, this is exactly what I told everyone here. Unfortunately being right can be a curse. KC has been the team that scared me the most. Well balanced, takes advantage of turnovers like no other and that little bastard Tyreek Hill, lol man he's quick.
Glad to see NE has been getting some turnovers that gives me a little stress relief.

All teams are going to go in 100% next week.

If I'm looking at it right, the 2 most likely scenarios for NE is getting Miami then KC in the AFC title game if Oakland beats Denver or you have the scenario of Oakland losing, dropping to the 5th seed and then you'd probably see Houston then Pittsburgh.

Lots of scenarios to play out, though. KC and Pitt are too wildly unpredictable to really peg this year.

Just for giggles:

Patriots, Chiefs, Raiders all lose, Steelers win...... Seeding would be:
1)Patriots
2)Raiders
3)Steelers
4)Texans
5)Dolphins
6) Chiefs

The scenarios are very intersting from there

Broncos are already talking about starting Lynch and will probably sit Wolfe who has been ailing with a bad neck. Miami probably will sit their dinged up players as well. So you really can't say that with 100% certainty, because no one knows...

That is true but you'd have to think that Lynch is going to give his 100% and his upside is certainly better than the imitation of a QB that has been in front of him. The entire QB situation is a bit of a catch-22 for them. I just can't imagine a Denver team rolling over because that means that a bad season next year would get everyone canned by my estimation. Oakland having a QB with a TD/INT ratio around 1.0 gives me some hope that they have a chance of being awful moving forward. Denver's calling card is turnovers. If they get 2 in a game, they win like 97% of the time and if they dont then they are a sub .500 team. My eyeball test says next week is a toss up for them.

KC is going to try. That I know. PIT and NE are the toughest matchups and no way do they want to go @PIT and then @NE to start the playoffs. That would be nuts and likely a fast exit.

There's only one team that can beat the New England Patriots this year. If they take care of business, they're unstoppable. They sometimes lay an egg, however.
