Wow! I can't recall hearing about this many Achilles injury's in an entire season!

How many people have successfully returned from this?

Takeo Spikes tore his achilles about 5 years ago but listing just him or even just a few wouldn't feel right in my opinion. Here's an article with one study that was done:

It use to be a career ender. Marino was the first 'high-profile' player to come back from surgery, that I recall.

There has been eight hammy's, twenty-one knees and a host of other injuries.

It's a big blow for the Lions to have lost Leshoure. Best and Stafford are injury prone and now Fairley is injured too. Are they not taking care of their players? Or are they not placing a high enough value on their medical reports? The Lions may not do so well after all.

I was listening to a show on the radio talking about them and the guy basically said that when you get one... expect to have the same thing happen to the other one. It may not happen soon, but its likely to happen. He was saying it had something to do with the way you compensate while walking around after the first injury.

I noticed a rash of them when training camp started. Has to be something to do with not getting off season workouts and maybe pushing too hard too fast.

I wonder if the injuries will cause the owners and the NFLPA to re-think their future off-season strategy.

Maybe in the future. I bet they'll probably choose to look at this as an abberation. They won't change until it continues to happen and some big name gets hurt
