The Atlantic Coast Conference & the Big 12 both placed 4 teams in the men's Sweet 16, but the Biggies are in the best position moving forward since their schools are spread among 3 different regions - giving them the opportunity to possibly advance 3 schools into the Final Four. Three of the ACC's schools are in the same region, which means not more than two schools would have a chance to get to the Final Four.

The Big 10 & SEC are tied for third with two teams each remaining, with each league having the possibility of getting two teams to the Final Four. The West Coast Conference, Mountain West, Big East & Missouri Valley each have one team remaining.

On the ladies' side, the ACC & Pac-12 each have four teams remaining. The ACC is in slightly better position since all four of its teams are in separate regions. The Pac's four teams are spread over three regions. Right behind those leagues is the SEC with three teams still alive in three different regions. Then comes the MAC & the Big 12, each with two teams in two regionals. The AAC has one team remaining - tourney favorite UConn.
