Any move of this magnitude would have the blessing of Elway and Ellis defecto ownership
Rodgers does not have big contract. His base salaries for the next 3 years are:The day the analysts realize a great defense is more important than a QB, will be the day analysts understand better.
The day the analysts understand that a great OL is a QBs best friend and not high priced WRS or RBS, will the day they understand a lot.
Would Rodgers want to be traded to a team where the team is weakened? Like if they give up 3 first rounders, and his ginormous salary cripples a team's ability to sign defensive or OL help?
Hmmmm?
I have heard where any trade would include a new contract for Rodgers making him the highest paid QB in history. Don't know how true that is.Rodgers does not have big contract. His base salaries for the next 3 years are:
He does have $500,000 workout bonuses each year, and I think the signing bonus hit stay's with Green Bay.
- 2021 - $14,700,000
- 2022 - $25,000,000
- 2023 - $25,000,000
While he played well, I'm not sure I'd go as far as to call Plummer a "Broncos Legend". Whoever wrote this got a bit overzealous with the headline!Broncos' Legend Jake Plummer Urges 'True Fans' to 'Buy Into' QB Drew Lock
As a quarterback who helped win a lot of games for the Broncos, Jake Plummer knows a thing or two about leadership and Mile-High expectations. Plummer still believes in Drew Lock.www.si.com
I agree. It was fun watching Mike Shanahan trying to turn Plummer into the robot QB he wanted. Not a legend for sure, but I believe he has the highest winning percentage of any Bronco QB. His bootlegs and reverse bootlegs - were things of beauty. While he played well, I'm not sure I'd go as far as to call Plummer a "Broncos Legend". The chances of Rodgers leaving the Pack seem very slim to me. Rodgers leverage is to sit out at age 37 - even he has to worry if that eats away at his last few professional moments.
I can see what your saying. I do think, though, he craves the attention and spotlight - so I don't see him as a walk away from the game type. Yours was a very thoughtful and insightful answer none-the-less.I think the only leverage the Packers have right now is Rodgers having to pay back some 40 million dollars. Other than that, great qbs are playing into their 40's with the new rules, and he's been relatively healthy during his career.
That said, I think there is a slim to none chance he goes back to play for GB at all. I think with him being a very private person and letting these comments hit the press shows he really is done. And I think he's old enough and has seen what he can do outside of football that the game would be easy to walk away from.
Lets not forget he doesn't love it like Brady, Manning, or Brees.
Well there's that, but on the other side - he got's his teammates - his fans and his commercial income.Feeling disrespected is a huge blow to ones ego. I doubt Rodgers is the type to swallow his pride
