We've had a lot of discussion around here about Peyton's time with the Broncos. Even as we are gearing up for the new season it is exciting to be able to reflect on one of the greatest of all time giving the Broncos 3 of the most prolific seasons for a QB and in the 4th being part of a Super Bowl win.
I thought this piece on MHR was a solid piece of work. It's not a perspective that hasn't been discussed around here, but it is certainly a dialogue that on a larger scale is overlooked. People will be quick to point out that Manning's numbers in SB 50 were not good. 141 yards, a pick a fumble, no TDs, etc. It's not dissimilar to Elway's numbers in XXXII or Brady's first SB, but people will disproportionately hold this one against him.
And that won't matter because all the bitter opinions out there won't change this fact: Peyton Manning is the only NFL QB to lead two different teams to a Super Bowl win. The Denver Broncos are Super Bowl champs and despite the team being powered by defense Manning was very much a part of that effort. He has a 14-13 record in the playoffs, but that's 5-3 with the Broncos. His legacy as a "playoff choke" is undeserved, especially in his time with the Broncos.
So this is worth a read and this conversation is worth continuing as we await the arrival of the 2016 season. (BTW, am I the only one who thinks this offseason is more fun than others?)
