Charlie Whiting: F1 race director dies aged 66 on eve of season-opener in Melbourne

Beloved race director Charlie Whiting passed away overnight of a pulmonary embolism. He was 66.

It's hard to imagine a formula one without him. It's been a treat to hear some of the stories of kindness and humor flowing in about one of the true legends of the sport.

RIP Charlie. You will be missed.
