9-year-old Zach Adams scored a 58 in a sanctioned 18-hole junior open golf tournament

Justin Rose’s victory in the U.S. Open was the talk of the golf world on Sunday, as it should have been. After all, its not every day a man breaks through by edging Phil Mickelson in the final round of the U.S. Open (even if it has happened six times now). Still, what Rose achieved may be no more buzzworthy than what a golfer named Zach Adams pulled off last week in South Carolina.
While Rose deserves all the plaudits he receives, he can’t overshadow what Adams accomplished, shooting a remarkable 58 across 18 holes. That’s a remarkable achievement, yet it’s the age of the two golfers that makes it all the more unbelievable: Rose is a relatively spry yet traditional (by pro golfing standards) 32 and Adams is 9.

This is amazing!

On another note, I was disgusted to see some of the comments trying to downplay this achievement. Who cares how long the course was, the kid is 9.

For those who think it was easy, I give you this challenge. I will have you play a course even shorter than he did.

Go drop a ball in the center of the fairway at 150yards - regardless of the hole or par. Then see if you can shoot 14 under.

A 58 is a 58 no doubt, but did you really look at the yardages? "The par-4 holes ranged from 150 to 170 yards, the par-5s were 200 to 215 yards and the par-3s were 60 to 75 yards."

This means that it was a par 3 course that has a par of 51. Sometimes it doesn't matter what the "par" is on a hole. He was actually +7, a great round but certainly not legendary.

215 yards is not a par 3 for a 9 year old. Also, even if it were a par 3 course (which I dispute) it would be a Par 54, not 51.

All I'm saying is that it is a great accomplishment for the kid, but the article is shit because they are trying to compare the kid to Justin Rose. From the way that the article reads, the author just heard about Rose yesterday which ruins the credibility for me.

Yeah, screw that punk. I shoot 58's all the time. I shot three of them last week: one on the first hole, one on the third hole, and one on the sixth hole. Also shot two 55's during the same round.

I think the biggest question is, "how many shots did he take to get it through the clown's mouth?" :yahoo:
