Lots of baseball dealies to discuss today, so get crackin.

Royals in danger of being passed by Toronto for best record...or ARE they? Toronto lost Tulowitzki for 3 weeks due to a cracked ovary.

Yanks salvaged a final game of a possible sweep, but found out they will be without Teixiera for the rest of the season.

St. Louis avoided a sweep from the Reds, but lost catcher Cody Stanley for 80 games due to a roids suspension. Pittsburgh is just 2.5 out.

Atlanta is horrible. They lost their 12th straight home game, the longest such streak since the 1930's when they were still in some other city. They were also swept in a four game home series by New York for the first time in about 30 years.

The Mets' magic number is now 11, tied for the smallest in the league with the fading Royals. They begin a series with Miami, a team which has given them lots of trouble in recent seasons.

Has [insert Padres interim manager's name here] been fired yet?

Gonna be some really good divisional races coming down to the wire: NL Central, AL West, NL East...the other three aren't as close at the moment and will need one team to slump or another team to get hot. Not impossible, but it's getting late and there's less margin for error.

Blue Jays are just plain scary. Sounds like Tulo could be back for the playoffs. The scary part is that he wasn't hitting much yet.

Blue Jays v. Mets World Series?

Cueto needs to stop that goofy stuttering wind-up crap. I like the theory behind it and screwing with hitters' timing, but it's getting ridiculous. And, most importantly, it's not working.

It worked great in the NL. But he's in the Big Leagues now. And he's getting exposed.

Any truth to the rumor that Boras is going to manage the Mets in October?

He's actually being sent to Triple-A Las Vegas to work on his mechanics

I mean, I know that he's always done it, but I don't remember it being this extreme. I feel like homeboy needs to focus more on the strike zone and less on how long he can fake a seizure before delivering the pitch.

It's weird because he's pitched in a tough ballpark for years and done great. Maybe he is just adjusting, but he was supposed to get a $200m contract after this season. I'm not so sure now....

If this is what it takes to drive his price tag down, I'm stoked. I'd way rather sign him for 3-4 years than 5-6.
