but possibly the worst 9-0 team i've ever seen. lots of talent goes to waste on this team with such stupid coaching.

There is not one game left that doesn’t worry me.

FSU and USC have checked out mentally but they have the atheletes to burn you.

Syracuse can score on anyone and the travel and the looking past to 12-0 and the stupid uniforms worry me.

I personally think FSU is done, they’re coming to a cold environment with nothing really to play for, and their a bit banged up. But we’re not nearly good enough to put it in cruise control against anyone.

ND were 9.5 favorites. They won by 10 and had a 17 point lead in the 2nd half.

What exactly are you bitching about again? They're not going to win every game by 50 points which is what you obviously expect

I'm sure they aren't the best 9-0 Notre Dame team but at the moment they are going to make the playoffs if they win out.

Knew NU wouldn't be a cake walk, but these coaches really need to do a much better job of in-game adjustments.

We should move up to #3 in the CFP rankings, but seriously, who's gonna beat Bama? It's gonna be like 2012 all over again … CFB vs NFL's undeclared 33rd team.

yes they had a 17 point lead ... which they turned into a 3 point lead.
i'm bitching about the way they play. i know you don't give a shit about anything but wins and losses, but i care about how they play. and if you thought they played anywhere near their potential yesterday then i don't think you know a damn thing about college football.

Not every game is going to be your best game. That's what separate a lot of teams. The ability to win (especially on the road) when you didn't play your best is huge. There is only one team in football who can say they played up to their potential in every game this season and we all know who that team is.

We just need to stay in that 2/3 spot.

Clemson has a tough test this week vs BC

I agree but they have looked like a very average team their last 3 gms against mostly weak competition.

meh, northwestern had won 4 straight, beaten number 20 wisconsin, and was up 17-0 on michigan. it was also a road game in the rain. not sure you could call nw average. notre dame made a couple mistakes, but still led from start to finish, covered, and responded when pressed. wasn't a great performance but adequate.

can't have your cake and eat it too. you're happy about ND being 9-0 (and so am i) and yet 5-4 NW is supposed to be more than average? either you judge a team on it's w-l record or you don't. which is it?

if you want to look at the details then look at all of them ... not just NW's. notre dame played some pretty bad teams and could have easily lost a couple of them. so don't act so surprised that all ND fans aren't happy with this team.

problem with your thinking is you neglect to measure the quality of the teams they don't play their best against. sounds good to say they win even when they're not at their best but it's a meaningless comment when the opponents are bad. now, against quality teams that would be saying something. a good coach has his teams UP against ALL opponents. imo, kelly is somewhat like wimbush. wins and losses look good but neither is good at what they do and that's why wimbush is on the bench! too bad there isn't someone who can bench kelly for someone who knows what they're doing.

1) Northwestern isn't bad

2) Most of those game you're talking about came with Wimbush as starter.

every team has close games. since book has been the starter, nd has covered the spread nearly every game.

nw was 5-3, before yesterday. what matters is how a team is playing at a given time. a team can even have a losing record yet be a tough team. nw had won four straight, beaten wisconsin, and nearly beat michigan. in nd's account they led the game from start to finish, controlled the game, and covered the spread. they'll be moving up in the rankings.

what were your expectations before the season started?
