The Mutts have done really well with sending players to the Arizona Fall League. Pete Alonzo was one of the upcoming stars a few years ago. J. D. Davis was also a rising star, but for the Astros. And the Giants and Mutts are on the same team in the AFL based out of Scottsdale.

I happened to be on the same flight as J.D.'s dad in probably 2017, from Stockton to Mesa. (The family is from Elk Grove, south of Sacramento) He was flying down to meet his brother (J. D.'s uncle), and surprise him by showing up for a few games. When they walked into the stadium (Camelback), and J. D. saw his dad and uncle, he was ecstatic! They laughed and hugged and smiled. J. D. had just completed a season at AA, and was a power hitting third baseman.

The next bunch of games were a disaster for J. D. He struck out most of his at bats, and the others were Huffers. He made several errors, fielding and throwing. The whole time his dad and uncle were there watching, he was 0 for the week.

It was a pretty glum flight back to Stockton for J. D.'s dad. When we landed and got off the plane, he checked his phone and started smiling. I asked what was up, and he replied, "Well, J. D. has homered twice and doubled tonight so far." Glad to see the kid do well, notwithstanding the fatherly jinx. Just not against the Giants.

Someone dressed as Marlins Man behind the plate. Don’t think it is him, though.

Which guy. The one with his hat on sideways? That’s not him

Flower! A lot of loud contact in a row.

Seems like an early hook with two outs. Although he wasn’t fooling anybody that time around.

It looks more and more like gas will be wearing a different jersey next year. He will demand a big contract, and I just don’t trust him enough to tie him to our necks.
